Career

Lorenzo Antonio wanted to become a singer when he was very young. He also learned playing guitar very early. His sisters Carolina, Kristyna, Rosamaria and Verónica also formed a musical formation called Sparx. He had his first success in 1982, when he was just 12 years old and sang with his sisters in a songwriting competition at the festival Juguermos a Cantar with the winning song "Vamos a Jugar". They appeared at the competition as "Lorenzo Antonio y Su Grupo" (Lorenzo Antonio and His Group).

In 1983, he performed as the opening act for Menudo at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. In October 1983, he represented Mexico at a festival, America, Este Es Tu Cancion in Orlando, Florida

His big success came through Busco Un Amor that was certified gold, Antonio followed it with the platinum-selling album Doce Rosas, which included the Latino hits, "Dile," "No Llorare," "El Idioma Del Amor," and the title-track "Doce Rosas".

After 1985, Antonio temporarily retired from performing to concentrate on his studies at the University of New Mexico, but continued to write and co-produce albums for his sisters' group Sparx.

He resumed his career in 1993, releasing the first of two tribute CDs to honor the influence of Mexico-born singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel. He released the second volume entitled Tributo 2 two years later. He followed that up with a number of albums most notably Siempre Te Amare. Antonio has also collaborated with Sparx on many albums in the 19909s and the 2000s including Sparx Y Lorenzo Antonio Cantan Corridos in 1996 and Sparx Y Lorenzo Antonio Cantan Corridos: Vol. 2 in 1998.

He has had numerous well-known hits including most notably "Doce Rosas", "No soy de Roca", "No lloraré" and "Ella y tu".
